The central theme of this book is that there is nothing in existence except the One. According to Ahmed Hulusi, the contingent and the necessary were never separate from one another; in fact, they existed from eternity as one. Indeed, the only difference is that the aspect of unity is real, while that of plurality is illusory. Reality is one, but its names are many and it is this plurality which becomes the cause of multiplicity. He points out further that the only true existence belongs to the One, and it is that One which is visible in all manifestations. ‘Things’ have no existence in themselves except as places of manifestation or reflections of the expressions of primordial Unity.
By presenting intellectual and knowledgeable arguments appropriate for the modern era in this book, Ahmed Hulusi leads the reader through an in-depth study, the purpose of which is to unveil the ultimate secrets and mysteries involved in knowing oneself and knowing Allah.
This book will also address a very important issue that is mostly misinterpreted by the Sufi circles in our present time and this is the concept of the oneness of Allah. Indeed, if you know yourself as nothing, then you truly know your Lord. However, you cannot know your Lord by making yourself nothing. Many a wise man claims that in order to know one's Lord, one must denude oneself of the signs of one's existence, efface identity and finally rid oneself of one's self. This is a big mistake. How can a thing that does not exist try to get rid of its existence? If you think that to know Allah depends on you ridding yourself of yourself; then you are guilty of attributing partners to Allah, the only unforgivable sin, because you are claiming that there is another existence besides Allah, the all-existent.

KNOW YOURSELF is an excellently satisfying contemporary Sufism (Tasawwuf) book which you won't regret to read! Author Ahmed Hulusi is an excellent contemporary Sufi writer whom I've been reading for 6 years. Although most people are preoccupied with earning livelihoods, I am sure that everyone is interested to find the Absolute Reality (Haqiqah). According to Sufism, the Reality is One. There is nothing in existence except the One that is denoted with Allah name, the Sustainer (Rabb) of the universes (alam). In fact; Unity (Wahdat) is real, plurality or multiplicity (qasrat) is an illusion. We have no existence at all. If we know that we have no existence at all, then we would really KNOW OURSELVES and our creation purpose as caliphs on earth. The only unforgivable sin is to ascribe partner to Allah (shirk) whether in open or hidden way. Because, the Absolute Reality is One. The Only true existence belongs to the One denoted with Allah name and He is present in all manifestations, in all forms with His Divine Names (Asma ul Husna-The Most Beautiful Names of Allah). Our brains generate their own spirit (ruh) and they are the manifestation place of these Divine attributes through these Divine Names. The more we manifest them, the more we are spiritually powerful and blissful in our personal or marriage life... This can only be achieved in brain by spiritual Islamic meditation (Zikr)... To explore more; I urge you to read this interesting, excellently satisfying book! I certainly know that, you won't regret it!
I believe this work to be of massive importance, in terms of it's accessibility. This guy knows the Real Islam, not the Zionist backed canned variety, shipped to the four corners of our minute World.
A very informative book on Spirituality
There is not much to say! We are living in an illusion and the source of this illusion is what we don't know about ourselves - our existence... Let's stop dreaming and start understanding who we are...
